Candidate Endorsement Questionnaire

Thank you for your interest in seeking the endorsement of the Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs (WACOPS). As the state’s largest labor advocate for front-line peace officers, we approach the endorsement process with a high level of responsibility and care. For the 2026 election cycle, the Government Relations Committee has streamlined our process to focus on direct engagement.

New candidates are asked to meet with Committee members, providing an opportunity to share their perspectives and discuss relevant policy issues. These conversations, alongside input from local police labor groups, will guide the Committee’s endorsement recommendations.

WACOPS is a non-partisan organization, and our endorsements are grounded in a candidate’s demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the issues that impact law enforcement professionals and their families. Representing more than 65% of Washington’s fully commissioned officers, our membership expects a thoughtful and substantive dialogue with those seeking our support.

Note: If you are running in a local or judicial race, please contact WACOPS before starting the form. This inquiry is designed for statewide and legislative races. If you are running for any other position, please contact Teresa Taylor (info provided below) to discuss your race.
